Boy, I must have had a thousand reasons to give up and quit. After being diagnosed with a serious mental illness back in 2017 shortly after being born again, my life has been nothing short of hell on earth. I started suffering almost immediately after my born again experience and 9 years later I am still suffering.
However, I didn’t give up.
The entire time I was struggling with my mental illness and being in and out of hospital I was trying to build an online business. It was affiliate marketing, which is simply where you sell someone else’s products in exchange for a commission. Unfortunately however, I wasn’t successful at affiliate marketing.
I have a decade of affiliate marketing knowledge and experience which would be able to land me a pretty good job at a marketing firm if I was able to work, and that remains an option for some point in the future. Only 1% of affiliates actually succeed and for the vast majority, especially beginners, they had a mentor or bought some specialist training course which enabled them to succeed.
My biggest problem however was technical issues and advertising account bans. I was constantly banned from running Google ads and Facebook ads right when I had everything I needed to succeed, but I was banned instantly. I remember I had a landing page super affiliates were using set up and ready to go and Facebook banned me. Sucks.
After I eventually gave up on affiliate marketing though, that’s when I discovered investing.
Investing is one of the best get-rich-slow methods out there, and virtually all it requires is patience, and time. And since I am 32, it makes perfect sense to start investing now. My only regret is that I didn’t start investing sooner. Investing can easily make you rich over time slowly as long as you are patient.
Most people start investing but then refuse to take a risk. As a result, they only end up getting 5% returns. Let’s be honest, that is hardly anything. To succeed at investing, you HAVE to take a risk. I’m currently taking the highest risk possible – and averaging 40% returns on my investments.
I currently have two Stocks and Shares ISA’s and two pensions set up – and I am trying to decide between them. I can invest now and build my wealth over time, or I can put my money into my pensions. But I think I will do both. I’m not expecting to start getting any serious income from this blog a year from now anyway, so I have time.
I may not have succeeded at affiliate marketing, but I am certainly succeeding at investing. If you have ever read the book Rich Dad Poor Dad, he talks about how important it is to take risks in life when it comes to money, especially if you are young. One calculated risk that succeeds could make you a millionaire for life. I took risks everyday at affiliate marketing and spent literally thousands trying to succeed, but to no avail.
However, this doesn’t mean I gave up.
Never give up.
Never quit.
Never.
