Your twenties are an exciting time. Most likely you will be fresh out of university with a degree and entering the world of work. Perhaps you might be starting a business. But most likely of all, you don’t have a clue what to do next. I’m going to give you a list of the best things to do in your twenties. Some of these things I done myself but mostly my twenties were a bit of a mess.
#1 – Find God. The earlier in life you can find God the better. If you can find God before you do anything else, you’re much less likely to make serious mistakes and ruin your life from a young age. I didn’t have my born again experience until I was 23, but by then I’d already had a psychotic episode. Find God and start walking the narrow way as soon in life as possible.
#2 – Seek wisdom. This is another very important step which unfortunately I didn’t take seriously until it was almost too late. Wisdom is so incredibly important in life and it’s essential that you gain wisdom early. You can read proverbs in the Bible for starters before moving on to Stoicism. Wisdom helps you make the correct choices in life and involves sound judgement. Basically wisdom will prevent you from screwing your life up.
#3 – Start learning. Begin learning absolutely everything from everyone. Eventually you will discover something that you like and make that your path and purpose in life. If you’re not sure what you want to do with your life yet, cast your net as far and as wide as you can and see what you can come up with. For me my first interest in business was affiliate marketing after watching a YouTube video. But maybe you’re a good writer, so you would prefer copywriting. Or you’re good at analysing, so you could try trading. Or maybe you’re patient so investing would be a good fit for you.
#4 – Start investing. If you start investing in your early twenties you could hit close to £100k by the time you turn 30. At that point you are basically retired because if you take a risk when you are investing you are getting 40% returns which gives you an income of £40,000 a year, which is one of my goals. Start learning about investing and try to find out which banks allow you to invest and download some apps from the play store.
#5 – Play a tough sport. Sports like rugby or boxing are perfect for building masculine character and frame. I played rugby as a teenager and into my early twenties and it was super beneficial for giving me an alpha frame of mind. In other words, an alpha male just means a strong man. And rugby made a big difference. Boxing would be a great choice too.
#6 – Get into shape. I first got into shape whenever I was 20 and then inevitably started smoking weed again and it all went to shit. Now I am turning 33 soon and have been working out for the past 3 months. I highly recommend getting into shape in your twenties because being in shape feels amazing. Apart from the confidence and attention from women, being ripped makes you feel seriously good. I was also taking antidepressants at that time so it was a double high.
#7 – Learn a skill. This is something that you could base a side hustle off while you work/invest enough to be able to quit your job. Some ideas include digital marketing, trading, copywriting, or writing a book. You can even pay people to ghostwrite your book for you on Fiverr and then publish it in your own name (or an alias).
#8 – Chase success, not women. Try to dedicate your twenties to trying to succeed. I spent the full 10 years of my twenties trying to figure out affiliate marketing. And even though I didn’t succeed, I’m still leveraging that in my new business aka this blog. Once you become successful, the ladies will come. That’s a promise.
#9 – Move out of your parents house. Most likely that is the wrong environment for you in your twenties and your parents will really not support your dreams and aspirations. Talking to your parents about all you are going to succeed and accomplish will probably make them turn against you if anything, and insist that you work a comfortable job for the rest of your life.
#10 – Avoid making mistakes. Some mistakes include abusing alcohol and drugs to the extent that you damage your mental health. Personally I was addicted to weed for several years before being diagnosed with a mental illness. Even though I’m making progress with recovering, it was still a massive mistake that derailed me for years. If you can do just one thing in your twenties, avoid making costly mistakes, like getting someone pregnant. If you can make it to your thirties you will have matured enough to be able to make the correct decisions from then on.
And that’s it.
