Why You Should Lift Weights - Fierce Alpha

Why You Should Lift Weights

Especially if you are in your twenties, lifting weights is one of the wisest (and best) things that you can do. This also applies if you are in your thirties, forties or fifties – you should be lifting weights. Lifting weights can easily change your life.

Lifting weights builds discipline

Probably the most important thing about lifting weights is that it builds self-discipline. This is vital for not wasting your life. Almost everything requires self-discipline – getting in shape, building a business, reading books, quitting smoking, stopping drinking – all require self-discipline.

You will waste your life, coasting along, not really doing anything if you don’t have discipline. You will waste your most precious commodity… time. Money can be made back, but your TIME is the most valuable thing that you own. Most people don’t realise this, and they waste their time to no end.

  • Watching TV series
  • Playing video games
  • Scrolling endlessly

Most people use the internet for entertainment, instead of building a business and creating passive income streams. But what is the first step to radically changing your life and motivating yourself enough to do something about it? Lifting weights.

Lifting weights builds momentum

Once you start going to the gym, the progress you make there eventually spills into all other areas of your life. Health, wealth, and relationships. If you have never had a girlfriend before, I can guarantee that lifting weights and getting lean will make a difference in this regard, and you will finally start getting attention from women.

The biggest mistake you can make in the gym (especially at the start) is by using the machines. Machines only work whenever you already have muscle to work, they are only for the big guys. Most likely you don’t have any muscle yet. So what is the solution? Try to only use free weights in your first two years in the gym. Free weights is how I initially got into shape whenever I first started lifting weights, at the age of 20. I was lean, in shape and had visible abs. All because I trained correctly.

Lifting weights makes you more attractive

A lot of guys wonder if being in shape gets you girls. Even though it is extremely obvious, most women will lie and say that they don’t like guys who are in shape. You don’t find out the truth until you actually are in shape – the answer is yes. Being in shape gets you so much attention from women, hot women – and you stop being invisible as a man. You will stand out so much, and you will have more luck on the dating apps as well, so it’s a win-win, both in real life and virtually.

You shouldn’t let getting attention from women to be your main motivation for working out, but I would be lying if I said that that wasn’t a factor. There should be other reasons to motivate you, for example, being healthier, feeling great, and after working out for minimum 3 months you will start to feel amazing, especially if you’ve been following a healthy diet. The benefits of being healthy (and attractive) cannot be understated. It will change your life.

Lifting weights makes you money

Once you have dedicated at least 1 year to getting into shape, you can now monetise your physique. There are many ways of doing this:

  • You could start a blog and create your programs to sell to your audience.
  • You could create an Instagram and post regularly. Then, you monetise by becoming an affiliate for different brands, posting promoted posts where someone pays you, and selling your own training programs.
  • You could start a personal training business and take on clients for an hourly fee.
  • You could create your own supplements company in Shopify and use yourself as the face of the brand to promote your products.

You can also use the momentum built from going to the gym to start various kinds of businesses, start investing in companies, and finally become financially free.

I started lifting weights in June earlier this year and created this blog and other businesses in July. I deleted my earlier posts because I was doubting myself but now I am fully committed to Fierce Alpha and to growing it and making it profitable. Point being, if I didn’t start hitting the gym, Fierce Alpha wouldn’t be here.

If you are feeling stuck in life and don’t know what to do next, hit the gym. That’s the first step, and then everything will snowball. I promise your life will change if you are consistent over the long-term in lifting weights. And even if it doesn’t make you more money, there are so many benefits to lifting weights that it is foolish to ignore. Make it your mission to sign up for gym membership and dedicate at least 1 year to hitting the gym and eating healthy.

I’m going to be posting more articles soon regarding diet and what do eat, but for now, just focus on pumping iron and getting big. It doesn’t really matter what you eat in your first two years in the gym, you need to eat enough calories to actually build muscle, so if you are not already overweight, the best thing to do is to BULK in your first two years in the gym. Eat whatever you want, and eat plenty of it. Dieting is for getting lean, when you already have the muscle.

If you don’t have access to a gym, bodyweight exercises are your best choice and it is completely free, but that’s for another article. For now just focus on hitting the gym and doing at least 3 sets per muscle group. Whenever I done weightlifting whenever I was 20 I aimed for 5 sets, which is less than what I am doing now. I recommend starting small because your motivation will likely be quite low, and you need to build momentum over time. So aim for 3 sets per muscle group at the start.

Most likely you will get sore at the start, so only workout 3 days in your first week or two. After this you can train everyday. And don’t worry – overtraining IS a myth, and you can train everyday after getting the soreness of the first two weeks out of the way. Train everyday if you can – this will eventually make it into a habit and you’ll find the process of going to the gym, lifting hard, and coming back home easy and enjoyable.

That’s all for today men.

Best of luck.
